Cover design

by Heather Smith | Mar 8, 2022 | in NHS Self-care leaflet

Apologies if this is now closed and I am typing this in the wrong place but I could not access the challenge on cover photos earlier. My initial reaction was the cover photo was fine/very professional depicting a set of teeth being examined but having given this further consider I can see what other contributors, such as Gavin Peterson, mean when they say a more realistic image, without perfect or cosmetically enhanced teeth, might be an idea. It is probably good that it is not an image of decaying teeth so as to avoid terrifying us as is the case with a well known brand. I think the image is in keeping with the style of the rest of the leaflet.

If you wanted something more eye catching the watermelon idea is fun. You could also restyle the whole leaflet to make it more modern with an Aardman style crocodile but I think if you were to do this it might need a broader change of style across a range of leaflets and other activities. If you really had

a big budget you would get a ”celebrity endorsement” from the Simpsons and have a campaign around not wanting to become Bleeding Gums Murphy.

What is the ideal mode of delivery of this leaflet? (paper, online, transform into a video)

Are there more topics we should cover in future leaflets?

Should leaflets be age appropriate? If so, how?

Heather, thank you! Love the suggestion of "Bleeding gums Murphy" :) I will post it in the cover challenge and tag you there too. I am not sure why it did not work earlier, apologies for that!

Hi Heather
I am posting it here, as the other challenge is having issues. It's so we visualise your idea :)

Thank you
Beatriz
